APC waivers and discounts

Article Processing Charge (APC) discounts and waivers are available to University of Exeter researchers through institutional membership or offset agreements. Offset agreements apply where the library subscribes to the publisher’s journals (although not all publishers that we pay subscriptions to engage in offsetting). "Offsetting" is nationally negotiated as part of the subscription deal and is intended to contain the total cost of publication by helping to ensure that institutions do not pay publishers twice for the same item e.g. paying a journal subscription then also paying APCs for articles in the same journal ("douple-dipping").

The University of Exeter Library also supports Open Book Publishers and Open Library of Humanities, which publish peer-reviewed open access content with no publication fees for authors.
