Dr Stephen Votier is a seabird ecologist and Senior Lecturer in the Natural Environment in the Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI).

Dr Votier’s interests lie in the ecology and biology of seabirds, and how they respond to changes in the marine environment.

In this video, he explains that seabirds are the most threatened group of birds in the world, and how learning more about their breeding and nesting habitat, we can develop policies to protect them.

He also explains how he uses technology such as GPS loggers, depth recorders and miniature video cameras, to help inform his research.
