Role

Carrie is responsible for managing the Open Innovation platform, which is financed over four years until July 2015 via the Higher Education Funding Council For England's Innovation Fund.

The platform provides financial support (up to £675,000 per year) to researchers, aiming to encourage long-term collaborative relationships with industry, leading to sustainable growth for the University.

Carrie also helps to manage the University's contract research and consultancy activities.

Profile

Carrie joined Research and Knowledge Transfer in September 2011 after working for two years as a programme manager for the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Invention for Innovation (i4i) programme. Prior to this Carrie carried out an industrially linked Post-doc position at the University of Exeter screening for novel enzyme activities. Carrie has a PhD in Protein Biochemistry and an MSc in Biological Research Methods.
