Research Evaluation and Communications Manager

Role

As Research Evaluation and Communications Manager, Matt supports activities associated with impact for the REF and more generally assists in ‘embedding a culture which recognises the value and importance of research impact’ within the University.

Matt’s day to day activities include assisting colleges and units  in exploring the types and ranges of the impact of their research and identifying evidence required to corroborate these impacts. Additionally, Matt assists in the drafting of impact case studies for the REF and impact templates for research council (RCUK) funding applications.

Matt also assists with funding applications, specifically pathways to impact and impact summaries for RCUK research grants.

Profile

Before coming to the University of Exeter Matt worked in Civil Engineering and prior to his post in Research and Knowledge Transfer worked as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Exeter. Matt has a Bachelors Degree and PhD from the University of Exeter. Matt currently sits on both the University’s Impact Strategy Group and the Impact Review Group.
