Research Development Manager and Stakeholder Lead for Economics and Social Research Council (ESRC)

Role

As Research Development Manager, Paul leads the University’s stakeholder relationship with ESRC and as such has been responsible for submitting their response to ESRC’s demand management consultation in 2011.

He is also working with the academic Theme Leads for two of Exeter’s Humanities and Social Sciences’ (HASS) Strategy themes: Global Uncertainties and Science, Technology and Culture.

Paul focuses on collaborating in partnership with academic colleagues with projects that are typically more complex, have multiple external partners, or are larger in value. He has led for Research and Knowledge Transfer (RKT) on managing and coordinating selected institutional applications.

Paul’s work at Exeter has led directly to the development of multiple successful research project applications submitted to the AHRC and ESRC. 

Profile

Paul is an experienced research and development professional, having been active in the university research support environment since January 2004.

He joined Exeter in October 2010 having worked previously at Westminster, Portsmouth and Chichester Universities.

Paul has worked with academic staff and external stakeholders at his previous institutions to develop successful applications to numerous funding bodies.

He completed an undergraduate degree in Modern History, Economic History and Politics at Royal Holloway, University of London and studied for a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management at Portsmouth Business School.
