Research Development Manager - Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC)
Role
Develop and manage long term strategic partnerships with external stakeholders with a focus on the BBSRC and Syngenta.
Develop projects from across the University to support the development of collaborative initiatives with other institutions, industry and non-academic organisations.
Investigate opportunities for research income development and commercial exploitation, bringing together internal research teams and building external partnerships to work up proposals.
Profile
Background in Science, worked previously at the University of York in a research group, the Centre for Novel Agricultural Products, whose focus is to deliver research outputs which address problems which face society using biological sciences.
Most recent position as Team Leader on the Artemisia Project, a $26million Gates funded project to deliver high yielding plants from a plant breeding programme.
Managed team of 12 with personal strengths in project management, product commercialisation and networking.
First came to the University to manage the Joint Information Systems Committee-funded DESCRIBE project.
