Effective tracking of your publications
The University has adopted the Symplectic system which enables University staff – particularly academics – to easily manage and keep their publication records up to date. This will be primarily helpful in ensuring this information is available when needed such as for a profile page, annual PDR and is used for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and annual university research monitoring exercise. There is a useful manual accessible from within the system or queries can be directed to the IT Helpdesk.
For most staff, simply providing your publishing name will result in identifying publications such as books and journal articles from a range of online databases. Individuals then simply follow an approval process to confirm those to be included in their own records. Any new publications when uploaded to these databases will result in automatic alerts to assist adding to your records.
Library services for researchers
The University maintains a full and comprehensive library. Whilst the various locations house a large collection of materials and services, many of our resources are available online through this website for you to use at home, work or wherever you are located for your study.
The Library website has pulled together some frequently used library and information sources for researchers.
