Overview

I am an Impact & Partnership Development Manager (IPDM) for the Kernow Sat Programme in collaboration with Spaceport Cornwall. The Kernow Sat Programme aims to engage businesses and local communities in developing a satellite programme for Cornwall that will support an environmental monitoring programme in response to local challenges. The programme also looks to increase awareness of Cornwall's capabilities in the space sector and engage with local schools and community groups in STEM learning. I work to establish networks and collaborations between academia, industry and businesses.

Career

The programme also looks to increase awareness of Cornwall's capabilities in the space sector and engage with local schools and community groups in STEM learning. I work to establish networks and collaborations between academia, industry and businesses. 

Previous to starting on the Kernow Sat Programme, I worked as Impact & Partnership Development Officer (IPDO) at the South West Centre for Excellence in Satellite Applications (SWCoESA), a business support programme supported and funded by the UK Space Agency and the Satellite Applications Catapult, to support growth in the space sector across Devon & Cornwall. I also previously worked on the Agri-tech Cornwall Programme.

I also spent several years working to support the Westra & van Houte microbiology research groups at the Environment & Sustainability Institute (ESI), and with Professor Alex Thornton at the Human Behaviour and Cultural Evolution Group (HuBCEG). While working with HuBCEG, I actively carried out research activities related to human cultural evolution and engaged with local community groups, businesses and schools.

Prior to studying at the University of Exeter's Penryn campus in 2006, I spent several years working in the public health sector as a Registered Nurse and as a carer in Australia and the UK.
