Overview

As Senior Research and Impact Strategy Manager, Lorna provides strategic co-ordination and development of University-wide research strategy and planning and maintains an oversight of the institutional investment portfolio for research, knowledge exchange, innovation and postgraduate research (PGR). Lorna plays a governance leadership role in relation to the Research and Impact Executive Committee (RIEC) and its sub-committees, and she leads on specific strategic initiatives.

Career

Lorna started out in film and television production, before moving into the not-for-profit side of arts and culture where her career incorporated strategic planning, partnership development, cultural programming, governance and leadership. 

Lorna worked for cultural organisations including Shakespeare's Globe and Ministry of Stories, and Higher Education Institutions including Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, RADA, and Trinity Laban. As Executive Director of leading London theatre company CIod Ensemble, Lorna led on arts, health and science collaborations working with partners such as KCL, Guy's and St Thomas' Trust, and Barts and the London. 

Since joining the University of Exeter in 2018 Lorna has worked in both research and education, including as Head of Degree Apprenticeships, and in public engagement with research, and research policy and strategy roles.
