Career

During her BSc, Elsie focused on computing in the context of scientific research, completing her thesis on the automated segmentation of non-small cell lung tumours in PET scans using component trees and random-forest machine learning.

Elsie started at the University of Exeter working as a researcher on the GEMINI project, which aims to use genetics to uncover new links between long term health conditions.

Now, as part of the Research Software Engineering Group, Elsie is producing a web application for the Cornwall FLOW accelerator project, which aims to underpin the deployment of 1000MW worth of offshore wind by 2030, developing a low carbon footprint approach to floating offshore wind (FLOW) operations.
