Professor David Blanchflower, CBE
Professor David Blanchflower, CBE, Bruce V. Rauner Professor of Economics at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, USA

Professor Blanchflower was born and educated in the United Kingdom, gaining his BA in Social Science (Economics) from the University of Leicester and his PhD from Queen Mary College, University of London in 1985. He is a leading labour economist and between 2006 and 2009, he was a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee. He has been credited with being one of the few economists to foresee the scale of the recession gripping the economy. He is currently Professor of Economics, at Dartmouth College in the US and Professor of Economics, at the University of Stirling Management School, in Scotland.
Professor Blanchflower’s research interests include, labour economics, wage determination, youth labour markets, entrepreneurship, trade unions and happiness. He is currently Economics Editor at the New Statesman.
Professor Blanchflower will be speaking on “Shaping the Future: Inflation or deflation: which is the greater threat?”
