Mr Vincent de Rivaz, Chief Executive, EDF Energy
Monday 19th March 2012, Streatham Court Lecture Theatre A, Business School, Rennes Drive, EX4 4PU
Since joining in 1977 as a Hydroelectric Engineer his career with EDF has seen him occupying a wide range of responsibilities in hydro-power, international business development and corporate finance.
Awarded The Energy Institutes Melchett Medal in 2006, he was named National Ambassador by HRH the Prince of Wales in July 2009. That year he was also Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He is Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur.
Vincent de Rivaz will be speaking on “Shaping the Future: Can energy companies be trusted to deliver our sustainable future?”
With rising fuel bills and poor sales practices, the energy sector is suffering from a breakdown of consumer trust. Yet at the same time, to address the energy gap and climate change, there is a need for massive investment in the industry. EDF Energy is tackling these issues head on. In this address, Vincent de Rivaz will set out how he believes the battle of trust can be won – and how sustainability might be right at the heart of the solution. He will explain how EDF Energy plans to put sustainability at the forefront of its plans to rebuild consumer trust and deliver the massive investments in new nuclear and other low carbon generation which the UK requires.
