Family friendly

The University is committed to helping working parents and has a variety of benefits on offer for our staff.

Childcare vouchers

As part of its range of family friendly initiatives, the University has made arrangements to participate in a scheme which enables employees to purchase, via a salary sacrifice arrangement approved by HM Revenue & Customs, childcare vouchers without paying tax or National Insurance Contributions.  Information on the scheme and how to join can be found in the Childcare Vouchers web pages.

Flexible working

Staff who are carers of relatives, partners and people living with them or whose children are aged eight years (or if their child is disabled, aged under 18) may apply to work flexibly to help them care for their child, children or other dependant.  Full information on the scheme and how to apply can be found on the Parents and carers web pages.

The University is committed to helping staff achieve a healthy balance between work and life.  In 2009 we introduced a flexible working hours scheme for staff, the principles of which are outlined in the Flexible Working policy.

Nurseries

Streatham Campus:

The Family Centre (links to the Current Staff pages) offers childcare for children from birth to school age during University terms (42 weeks a year). Situated on the edge of the main Streatham Campus, it provides a safe, secure, warm and friendly environment in its four separate units, each of which has an outside playing area. The Family Centre can be contacted on (01392) 264415.

Woodlane Nursery, Cornwall:

There is a Day Nursery run by Tremough Campus Services at Falmouth College of Art’s the Woodlane Campus, which was warmly commended after its last Ofsted inspection. It welcomes babies from 12 months old and has separate facilities for children over the age of three. As the Day Nursery is very popular, please telephone (01326) 213765 for further information.

Parents & Carers

The University is committed to helping working parents and carers and has introduced a range of policies to assist with this.  More information about policies and procedures including Maternity leave, Paternity leave and Adoption leave can be found on the Parents and carers web pages.
