The David Allen Hero/ine of the Year

An award for an individual who has made the best contribution to the University either by making a difference behind the scenes, or inspiring colleagues to do the best they can.

The shortlisted nominees in this category are:

Lizzie Hustwayte

Change and Development Manager, Education and Student Experience

Lizzie has been nominated because:

  • As Change and Development Manager within the Law School she has been dedicated, enthusiastic, and committed to helping the school re-establishing itself in the Top 10.
  • She has continued to ensure a high level of service within the school despite changing staff structures.
  • She has hugely contributed to the development of an innovative new Law School curriculum, helping the Law School move forward on its key performance indicators and National Student Survey scores.

Jodie Davies

Senior Student Information Desk (SID) Advisor, Education and Student Experience

Jodie has been nominated because:

  • She project manages Graduation degree days, coordinating nearly 20 ceremonies with extremely positive feedback.
  • She has strongly supported the development of members of the busy SID team whilst continuing to provide excellent service herself.

Jasmine Sharma

The Compass Manager, Falmouth Exeter Plus

Jasmine has been nominated because:

  • Jasmine leads the Compass team in Penryn, who offer a hugely supportive first port of call for students.
  • She has frequently stepped in at late notice, for example in coordinating the Cornwall Campuses Meet and Greet service, personally dealing with often difficult individual student cases.
  • She has been a critical source of support for students throughout the academic year.

Elisenda McCutchion

Assistant College Manager – Graduate Research (SSIS), Education and Student Experience

Elisenda has been nominated because:

  • Her involvement in setting up the new Doctoral College has drawn on best practice is SSIS admissions, led by Eli.
  • She has provided excellent and in-depth line management support to her colleagues
  • Her work with the SWDTC and other funding partnerships has left the University in a good position for future bids.

Anthony Partridge

Shift Porter and Acting Waste and Recycling Supervisor, Campus Services

Anthony has been nominated because:

  • He has taken on responsibility for re-use and recycling activities, in addition to his portering duties.
  • With no prior experience he has demonstrated passion and made a difference.
  • Anthony has made £37,000 of savings in furniture and waste costs.
