Anne-Marie Baker

Equality, Diversity, Inclusivity and Wellbeing Manager, Equality and Diversity

Anne-Marie has been nominated for her work in setting up the University Staff LGBTQ+ network. The LGBTQ+ Staff Network was desperately needed by university staff and will greatly contribute to the wellbeing of staff, and working relationships across the university. The network will give staff the opportunity to come together, forming relationships across disciplines and providing support for each other where needed. She has been the driving force behind the network – she had a huge role in introducing rainbow lanyards, which will show support for LGBTQ+ staff, encouraging more people to be out at work and demonstrating to colleagues that they are protected and that they should not be ashamed of who they are.

Ben Goulding

GBP Student Engagement & Events Assistant, CLES

Ben has been nominated because of his contributions to the college which have helped ensure that students have the best time possible and that all events at the University are supported. In addition to this, he has made a difference to the college in numerous other ways. He has supported the 'Missing Maps' project, showed outstanding commitment to representation, allows subject chairs the freedom to make decisions about the best way to run events in their discipline, breaks the barriers to ensure every voice can be heard. Ben also went above and beyond for an individual to help her with her masters application and without this help it's unlikely that the student would have completed their Masters at Exeter. Finally, Ben is an absolutely outstanding community champion, true partner for the college and - above all else - is a fantastic person.

Ruth Grimmer

Head of Professional Services, PS Cornwall

Ruth has been nominated for her role in lifting the cap on student numbers on the Penryn campus. This planning application went to planning multiple times and she attended every meeting speaking passionately on behalf of the University. She's also achieved a noticeable improvement in the relationship between the University and the local community dispelling myths and negative messages, and replacing them with more positive attitudes towards students and the University. Ruth has gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our University is understood and valued in the community by supporting the small things as well as the big. In a community like Cornwall this does make a difference and without this, the cap would not have been lifted on the student numbers.
