The Recruitment team supports the University to attract, source and select individuals for all roles within our Colleges and Professional Services. The team reports into our Head of Talent Management, Hannah Crowe.

Recruitment Lead and Admin Team Manager
Catherine has two elements to her role in the Recruitment Team. As a Recruitment Lead she leads on recruitment for the College of Social Sciences and International Studies (CSSIS), Global Engagement & Development (GED), Campus Services, HR, Education and Student Services (ESE), Governance and Compliance and the Doctoral College. We work closely with colleagues within recruiting departments and HR to advise and manage on all aspects of recruitment from attraction and sourcing through to selection and appointment. Catherine also manages the Recruitment Admin team who provide administrative support for all stages of recruitment.
Having joined the University as a Graduate Management Trainee in Hospitality in 2001 Catherine worked in various roles and moved in to HR in 2009 as a Recruitment Administrator. She was part of the team that brought recruitment at the University online in 2010.
Catherine graduated from King Alfred’s College, Winchester in 2001 with a degree in Media and Film and American Studies and also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Film Journalism from the British Film Institute.

Leanne leads on all recruitment activity for the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences (CEMPS), College of Life and Environmental Sciences (CLES), College of Humanities (HUMS), Technical Services, Communications and Marketing and Exeter IT. Leanne works closely with the PVCs of the Colleges, HR Business Partners and senior members of her portfolio to provide strategic guidance and advice on all things Talent Acquisition. She advises on strategies for sourcing the best talent, and assists in the planning of future recruitment needs for her areas.
Leanne joined the recruitment team here at the University in November 2015 after a 6 month career break where she travelled around Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Prior to that she relocated from London and joined the Met Office as a Recruitment Advisor. In this role, she, provided strategic leadership support to help source talent related to the introduction of the HPC Supercomputer, as well as overseeing recruitment for the Commercial and Government Services.
Leanne graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2011 with a 2:1 degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising. She pursued a career in Buying within the Arcadia Group before moving within the fashion and retail industry into recruitment at Michael Page in London. It is here she cut her teeth in the recruitment world, and worked with well-known UK and International retail companies to recruit talent across Marketing, Communications and PR.

Recruitment Lead (interim)
Colin is currently working as an interim Recruitment Lead within the Recruitment team. He works closely with colleagues in the Medical School and the Business School to advise on and manage all aspects of recruitment from attraction and sourcing through to selection and appointment.
Colin originally worked in finance for the NHS, working his way up to Financial Services Manager at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He then began a career in recruitment, in a variety of roles including running his own business. He is a PRINCE 2 Practitioner and joined the University of Exeter in June 2015, project managing the Temporary Staffing Transformation Project.

Joanna Engelbach Sayer
Recruitment Project Manager
Jo’s role is to project manage strategic recruitment campaigns across the University. She supports the Recruitment Leads in their work to source and attract the best talent and is responsible for maintaining the University’s workforce planner. Jo works closely with the Head of Talent Management on other recruitment and talent acquisition projects, ensuring key milestones within each project are achieved and that any issues or risks are monitored and mitigated or escalated.
Jo joined the University in March 2012 as a Procurement Officer within Finance Services. In November 2012, she started work as the Executive PA to the Provost, Professor Janice Kay, until January 2015. After a short time away from the University helping a friend’s IT start-up company in the private sector, Jo re-joined the University in April 2016, in her current role as Recruitment Project Manager.
Jo is a qualified PRINCE 2 Practitioner and has a First Class BSc Psychology degree from the University of Nottingham. She is also trained as a primary school teacher, graduating from the Institute of Education, University of London with a Primary PGCE in July 2010. Until 2009 she was an active member of the Royal Naval Reserve Unit, HMS Wildfire, in Northwood, Middlesex.

Richard joined the University in September 2013, having worked previously at Exeter College and Devon County Council. He has a BSc (Hons) degree in Human Geography with Tourism Management, and is also PTLLS qualified.

Ed oversees the recruitment administration for the College of Life and Environmental Sciences, the College of Humanities and a number of Professional Services departments including Exeter IT, Communication and Marketing and Technical Services.
In February 2016 Ed moved to the University of Exeter in his current role as a Recruitment Administrator in HR Services. Ed has a PhD in Biogeochemistry, a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and BA in Geography, all from the University of Birmingham.

Recruitment Administrator (TSB)
Louisa joined the team in July 2016 from the Temporary Staff Bank (TSB) and is currently working as a Recruitment Administrator. She provides administrative support to the team which includes drawing up contracts and sending out interview invites alongside general administration.
Since graduating from Falmouth University in 2015 with a First Class degree in Textile Design, Louisa has been working for the University on a temporary basis. During her time on the TSB she has worked in Print and Copy Services and with the History Department in Education and Student Services. Louisa spends her spare time doing design work including branding and logo designs.

Recruitment Administrator (GBP)
Ben provides administrative support to the whole Recruitment team. He manages the central Recruitment inbox and responds to common queries from candidates and hiring managers. Ben is also responsible for drafting employment contracts and requesting employment references, along with a variety of other administrative duties.
Originally from London, Ben graduated with a BA in Theology from the University of Exeter in July 2016. He joined the team at the start of September as a Graduate Business Partner. Ben has previous administrative experience working for a local tutoring business and has also worked in HR in the hospitality and legal sectors.

After graduating from the University of Exeter in 2011 with a 2:1 degree in Psychology, Fran started work here on a Graduate Business Partnership placement within Exeter IT. After completing her placement, Fran joined Exeter College; first working as an Administrator for the Senior Leadership Team, before becoming a HR Administrator in April 2013. In September 2016 she moved back to the University of Exeter to her present role as a Recruitment Administrator in HR Services.
