The Recruitment team supports the University to attract, source and select individuals for all roles within our Colleges and Professional Services. The Recruitment Team Structure Chart gives details of line management within the team, but overall, everyone reports into our Head of Talent Management, Hannah Crowe.

Head of Talent Management
My role focuses on how we attract, support and retain our people. The Recruitment team reports up into me and I work closely with the other Heads Of Department within HR Services due to the close alignment with my role. We are all currently working on various initiatives and projects as part of the Attract, Perform, Retain strategy.
My background is predominantly in Talent Acquisition and Talent Management and I have managed teams for a number of large banks and insurance companies. I recently moved back to the UK after 13 years living in Australia and am thrilled to have found a perfect role for me at the University, meaning I can work in beautiful Devon, close to my home county of Cornwall.
I am passionate about partnering with leaders to enable thinking about the roles and skill sets they need in their teams and helping them attract and select the very best people to fill those roles. I love keeping across new technology and initiatives within recruitment and talent management and am always eager to trial new ideas and processes.

Recruitment Lead and Admin Team Manager
I have two elements to my role in the Recruitment Team. As a Recruitment Lead, I lead on recruitment for the College of Social Sciences and International Studies (CSSIS), Global Engagement & Development (GED), Campus Services, HR, Education and Student Services (ESE), Governance and Compliance and the Doctoral College. I work closely with colleagues within recruiting departments and HR to advise and manage on all aspects of recruitment from attraction and sourcing through to selection and appointment. I also manage the Recruitment Admin team who provide administrative support for all stages of recruitment.
Having joined the University as a Graduate Management Trainee in Hospitality in 2001, I worked in various roles and moved in to HR in 2009 as a Recruitment Administrator. I was part of the team that brought recruitment at the University online in 2010.
I graduated from King Alfred’s College, Winchester in 2001 with a degree in Media and Film and American Studies and also have a Postgraduate Certificate in Film Journalism from the British Film Institute.

I lead on all recruitment activity for the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences (CEMPS), College of Life and Environmental Sciences (CLES), College of Humanities (HUMS), Technical Services, Communications and Marketing, the Executive Suite and Exeter IT. I work closely with the PVCs of the Colleges, HR Business Partners and senior members of my portfolio to provide strategic guidance and advice on all things Talent Acquisition. I advise on strategies for sourcing the best talent, and assist in the planning of future recruitment needs for my areas.
I joined the recruitment team here at the University in November 2015 after a 6 month career break where I travelled around Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Prior to that I relocated from London and joined the Met Office as a Recruitment Advisor. In this role, I provided strategic leadership support to help source talent related to the introduction of the HPC Supercomputer, as well as overseeing recruitment for the Commercial and Government Services.
I graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2011 with a 2:1 degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising. I initially pursued a career in buying with the Arcadia Group before moving within the fashion and retail industry into recruitment at Michael Page in London. It is here that I cut my teeth in the recruitment world, and worked with well-known UK and International retail companies to recruit talent across Marketing, Communications and PR.

Jo Engelbach Sayer
Recruitment Project Manager
My role is to project manage strategic recruitment campaigns across the University. I support the Recruitment Leads in their work to source and attract the best talent and am responsible for maintaining the University’s workforce planner. I work closely with the Head of Talent Management on other recruitment and talent acquisition projects, ensuring key milestones within each project are achieved and that any issues or risks are monitored and mitigated or escalated.
I initially joined the University in March 2012 as a Procurement Officer within Finance Services. In November 2012, I started work as the Executive PA to the Provost, Professor Janice Kay, until January 2015. After a short time away from the University helping a friend’s IT start-up company in the private sector, I re-joined the University in April 2016, in my current role as Recruitment Project Manager.
I am a qualified PRINCE 2 Practitioner and have a First Class BSc Psychology degree from the University of Nottingham. I am also trained as a primary school teacher, graduating from the Institute of Education, University of London with a Primary PGCE in July 2010. Until 2009 I was an active member of the Royal Naval Reserve Unit, HMS Wildfire, in Northwood, Middlesex.

After graduating from the University of Exeter in 2011 with a 2:1 degree in Psychology, I started work here on a Graduate Business Partnership placement within Exeter IT. After completing my placement, I joined Exeter College; first working as an Administrator for the Senior Leadership Team, before becoming a HR Administrator in April 2013. In September 2016 I moved back to the University of Exeter to my current role as a Recruitment Administrator in HR Services.

I joined the University in November 2016 as Team Administrator and provide administrative support to the whole team, for example, drawing up contracts, preparing interview itineraries and managing the central recruitment inbox alongside general administration.
Prior to my move to the University, I worked as a Conference Events Co-ordinator where I managed and coordinated a wide variety of events. I have also spent a few years sailing around the world while working on cruise ships after graduating from Plymouth University with a 2:1 Bachelor of Arts degree.

Team Administrator (GBP)
I provide administrative support to the whole Recruitment team. I manage the central Recruitment inbox and respond to common queries from candidates and hiring managers. I am also responsible for drafting employment contracts and requesting employment references, along with a variety of other administrative duties.
Originally from London, I graduated with a BA in Theology from the University of Exeter in July 2016. I joined the team at the start of September as a Graduate Business Partner. I have previous administrative experience working for a local tutoring business and have also worked in HR in the hospitality and legal sectors.
