Career development planning - to help you develop in your current role.

Career development planning

What is career development planning?

The purpose of career development plannng is to help you create a career plan to develop yourself in your current role and identify possible career goals for the future.  You will undertake a number of online questionnaires and receive 1:1 coaching from a trained member of Staff Learning and Development.  At the end of the process a career plan is produced which you can share with your line manager.

What will I have to do as part of career development planning?

As part of the programme you will undertake a number of different processes including:

  1. First you will undertake a 360-degree appraisal to learn about your current strengths and development needs.
  2. You will then complete an online personality questionnaire called Facet5 which provide you with a comprehensive view of your attitudes and preferences.
  3. Next you will have a 1:1 feedback session where we will integrate the results from the questionnaires and discuss the implications for your current role, changes that you may wish to make and future options.
  4. After completing a ‘Career Planner’, you will be encouraged to share what you have learned with your line manager. We will also arrange for you to meet with the Senior Personnel Manager (Professional Services) to discuss your career aspirations.

How do I apply?

If you are interested in the career development planning please discuss this with your line manager at your PDR.  Nominations should be made via Heads of Professional Service to Tash Khan-Davis, Assistant Director (Learning & Development) - t.khan-davis@exeter.ac.uk
