Academic Development: Writing Spaces

Personal Effectiveness

Education and Research

About this course:

Academic Development's structured writing retreats provide focused and dedicated writing time for any University of Exeter member of staff, with support from an experienced facilitator.

Whether an ethics approval form, a research proposal, an article or an ASPIRE application, this dedicated writing space will give you the time to make progress in a supportive environment; we encourage the sharing of writing experiences and create a community of practice by blending quiet email-free writing time with short creative exercises designed to support you as you write.

Please bring all materials needed to write (articles, previous drafts, laptops, notes etc.) as this allows the session to be dedicated to writing itself rather than preparatory work.

Refreshments will not be provided but please feel free to bring your own.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of this session, you will:.

- Identify three realistic targets for your writing time.

- Develop strategies to help support your writing both in and out of the session.

- Make progress on your writing, whatever that may be.
