About this course:

This is a theoretical session explaining the elements of the role of a Fire Co-ordinator (FC) and giving skills, knowledge and tools to implement the best practice in the workplace.

Candidates should have a level of Fire Safety knowledge and understanding to the level of a Fire Marshal and Evacuation Officer.

This course is to consolidate that knowledge and to train nominated staff to fulfil the role of a Fire Co-ordinator for their workplace.

The course is classroom based.

Course aim: A theoretical session explaining the elements of the role of a Fire Co-ordinator (FC) and giving skills, knowledge and tools to implement the best practice in the workplace.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of Fire Co-ordinator's role by:.

- Appreciating the practicalities and legal responsibilities of Fire Safety in the workplace.

- Identifying the fire hazards and risks to relevant persons by identifying and minimising the risk from fire by monitoring their workplace.

- Administering Emergency and Evacuation Procedures (including Fire Drills).

- Liaising with the Fire Safety Team and College Registrar(s).

- Ensuring Fire Emergency related documents are available and current (a) The Evacuation Strategy for their building and (b) The Fire Service Information pack for their building.

Who should attend this course:

This course is mandatory for staff who will be undertaking the role of Fire Co-Ordinator.

Successful attendance on a University of Exeter Fire Marshal training course (or Requalification) within three years of the (FC) course start date is a requirement for this training.

The criteria for the Fire Safety Coordinators course requires nomination by the registrar for a specific building.

The training detailed is primarily aimed at staff working at the Exeter Streatham and St.Luke's campus sites.
