Wellbeing: Building Resilient and Effective Organisations
| Description | This 2 consecutive day course comprises a powerful blend of theory and practice including experiential learning, personal reflection, peer coaching and group work.
Who is it for? Middle and senior leaders and managers of the University. Specifically anyone who. 1/ Has a duty of care for the wellbeing of staff. 2/ Leads or can influence the working environment of staff (workloads, resources, communication, control, how changes are managed, relationships, sense of purpose). Current course dates are. 14 and 15 August 2012 - 09:00-16:30. 6 and 7 September 2012 - 09:00-16:30. 3 and 4 October 2012 - 09:00-16:30. 13 and 14 November 2012 - 09:00-16:30. 13 and 14 December 2012 - 09:00-16:30. More dates will be added for 2013.
What is it about? This course will help managers understand and minimise some of the causes of stress in their teams and themselves.
What will I get out of it? 1/ develop resilient thinking styles and behaviours in ourselves and others. 2/ identify where we can influence and lead change to minimise negative workplace stressors. 3/ learn how our leadership and communication styles can foster resilience and effectiveness in our areas of responsibility and beyod. 4/ help to identify key systemic issues which need to be addressed at more strategic levels. 5/ understand the thinking styles and behaviours which can help people become more resilient. 6/ understand the key stressors in the workplace which they can positively influence. 7/ learn through practice and peer coaching how they can reduce negative impacts of stress in themselves and others. 8/ identify key values & behaviours to foster a climate of resilience and effectivenes. 9/ to surface any relevant issues, themes and patterns that are systemic in nature and therefore need to be addressed at a more strategic level.
Is there anything I need to do before attending? Participants will be asked to dedicate 20-30 minutes prior to the course to complete an online survey which will provide them with data as a springboard to reflect on their personal resilience and leadership impact. These reports will be used by participants to inform their thinking around priority areas of focus and how they can leverage their influence in the key workplace pressure areas.
