How do I book for a course?
Please see our quick start guide for course booking.

There are no dates listed for the course I want to attend, can I be notified of future dates?
You can add yourself to the waiting list by following the guidance for booking; this will automatically add you to the waiting list.  When further dates are set up for the course, everyone on the waiting list will be contacted and informed of the new dates.

I can’t attend the dates listed for the course I want to attend, can I be notified of future dates?
Please email sld@exeter.ac.uk and we will add you to the waiting list and let you know when new dates are arranged.

How do I obtain a list of the courses I have attended?
Your training record is held in your Personal Learning Account, log into Trent HR Self Service, click on Learning and then Personal Learning Account.

What is the Personal Learning Account?
Courses from the central training programme will automatically be recorded in your Personal Learning Account.  If you attend training outside the central programme, either within your College/Professional Service or through an external training provider, you can record this on your training record through your Personal Learning Account.  For step by step instructions on how to add an event to your Personal Learning Account please see our personal learning account - quick start guide

I can’t log in to Trent Self Service.
You can only log in to Trent Self Service if you are a contracted member of staff when you are connected to the University network (either on Campus or through a VPN).  If you are not able to use the University network, please contact the training provider for the course you wish to attend.  If  you are connected to the Universtiy network but still cannot log in, please contact the IT Helpdesk.

Those engaged through the Temporary Staff Bank will not be able to log in to Trent - you will need to register for training via the Temporary Staff Bank.

As a manager can I book my staff onto learning events through TrentHR?
We recommend that individuals book themselves for learning events through self service as they will be sent an automated confirmation and outlook calendar entry message.  However, if your member of staff does not have access to a computer, you are able to book learning events on their behalf through People Manager, please see our People Manager - booking learning events for staff members guide 

Why can’t I just email you to book the course for me?
By using Trent to book your own learning events, you receive immediate confirmation that you have booked for the session and date on which you wish to attend; you will also receive a diary reminder for the session.  This also means that others booking for the same course can see how many places are still available through the Learning and Development course listings webpage.

The information showing is not correct, what should I do?
Please contact Staff Learning and Development and let us know what needs changing and we'll correct it.

I can’t find the course I want to attend.
If you cannot find the course you want to attend, please contact Staff Learning and Development and we'll try to advise on alternative internal courses or be able to suggest suitable external alternatives.

I booked for a course by mistake, how do I cancel this?
You can cancel your place in Trent, by going to your Personal Learning Account, selecting the event you are registered for and then click on Cancel.

I am booked for a course, but now cannot attend, how do I cancel?
You can cancel your place in Trent, by going to your Personal Learning Account, selecting the event you are registered for and then click on Cancel.

There is a cost next to the course date in my personal learning account, what is this for?
The majority of training for staff at the University is free of charge; this is listed on the course listings on the Learning and Development webpages.  The actual cost of the course will be listed in your Personal Learning Account, but this will not be payable by your department, unless you cancel your place at short notice or do not show up for a training course, in line with the Cancellation policy

How do I book onto the course that I am on the waiting list for?
You will need to remove yourself from the waiting list, and then book for the course you wish to attend.

How do I remove myself from the waiting list?

How do I find the details (venue/time/date) of the course I am booked on?
Log into your Trent and check your Personal Learning Account; click select next to the course you require information on - this brings up the basic detail of the date.  For full details, click the 'Booking Summary' button on the left hand side.
