Appointment at Grade G: Senior Lecturer
An appointment may be made at Senior Lecturer (grade G) level (subject to funding approval via the SR1 process and the approval of the line manager Deputy Vice-Chancellor) provided the preferred candidate has satisfied the requirements of the Professional Development Programme. Schools are encouraged to advertise vacancies as ‘Lecturer/Senior Lecturer’.
Progression to Grade H: Associate Professor
The University will apply the following criteria in considering applications for promotion to the grade of Associate Professor. Demonstrating, through sustained performance over a number of years, contribution and value to the College beyond that expected of a Senior (grade G) appointment in the originating job family, in the following areas:
Be a leading authority in the subject with an international reputation, as evidenced by research publications and (inter alia):
- research income
- research supervision
- other esteem indicators
- significant contribution to the development and clarification of research strategy for the College and subject area
- mentoring and developing other researchers in the College
The University has issued protocols on the use of the title Associate Professor by staff in this grade.
Applications for promotion to Associate Professor may be made by a College or by personal submission.
