New Payslip changes March 2019 for those claiming via eClaims

Due to a legislation amendment for the Employment Rights Act around National Minimum Wage (from April 2019) your payslip will look slightly differently with new descriptions for your pay elements and holiday pay being displayed on a separate line.

The old element description Casual fee (1 to 5) will be replaced with Temp pay (1 to 5) which will now show a breakdown of hours worked, rate and a the new element Temp Holiday Pay. This will not make any difference to the total amount paid for the hours worked it is just displaying the information in a different way where previously only the total for the week was only shown against each fee. The 1 to 5 represent the different weeks in the month being claimed i.e. 1 = 1st week.

This will help when reviewing the hours claimed against your payslip and if you need to provide payslips to third parties relating to personal finance arrangements.

Please note if you are claiming via a set fee claim only the total will be shown where a set rate has been given for a piece of work and not broken down by hours or rate.

Payslip examples with the changes are shown below along with FAQs:

In Trent Self Service the basic payslip will be displayed as follows:

The full payslip if downloaded as pdf will look as follows:

Within the HR system Trent it will show on the system as follows:

F&Qs

1) Will the changes mean I will be receiving less money?

No, the total amount paid will be the same, it will just be broken down into the basic pay rate and holiday rate paid.

2) Why are the payslip changes being made?

Due to legislation changes for the National Minimum wage the University is now required to show the number of hours and      the hourly rate on your payslip.

3) How can I access my payslip?

To view your payslips and P60 information please login to the Trent HR Self Service system using the same login details you would for eClaims. You will only be able to login to this system after your first pay day. If you are experiencing difficulties logging into Trent Self Service, then please contact SID to activate your login.

4) Will I still be able to see the hours claimed on my timesheets?

Yes, all previously claimed timesheets will still be available in eClaims showing the hours claimed each day.

5) I use the 'Other' option on the Claimant profile, will this be displayed in the same way?

No, The 'Other' option is now no longer available, for historical profiles still using this option the value will come across as just a total in the same way as it does now.

6) Why does holiday pay appear when I've not had any holiday this month?

Holiday pay is paid in advance in line with the hours that have been worked. This has always been the case, but it is now being split out on your payslip to show the breakdown between the two rates.
