The University is a Stonewall Diversity Champion

Stonewall

Stonewall is a charity promoting equality and inclusivity for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people.

The University works closely with Stonewall through its Diversity Champions Programme which is a good practice employers’ forum for building LGBT inclusivity in the workplace.

Workplace Equality Index

Each year the University participates in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index (WEI), a benchmarking tool which evaluates our initiatives and helps us better understand the challenges to creating an inclusive working environment for LGBT employees.

As part of the Workplace Equality Index, Stonewall seeks feedback directly from all our staff about workplace culture, diversity and inclusion via a confidential questionnaire For the 2017 Index, over 600 University staff took part.

Our ranking for the 2017 Index is 268 and we are certainly working on improving this for the 2018 index, including the launch of a new LGBT staff network.
