Jackie was the first female member of the 'Red Devils', the Parachute Regiment's free fall display team as well as a world champion and record holder.
Jackie will be speaking about how she achieved her success in what was then a male-dominated environment.

Penryn: Engineering role model and mentor Ophelia Black

The Women in STEMM network are delighted to welcome Ophelia Black (nee Johnson) as part of our International Women's Day celebrations.
New Orleans native Ophelia Johnson graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Design and Commercialisation. As an undergraduate, Ophelia was a leader of the National Society of Black Engineers and Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honour society. Through these roles, she mentored young women in science and engineering and conducted outreach programs with children of all ages to increase STEM awareness. Ophelia is now continuing her studies in Medical Device Design and Entrepreneurship at Imperial College London.
