Professor Brendan Godley joins prestigious company in the board of trustees for Fauna & Flora International
Scientist joins royalty and celebrity as conservation trustee
A biologist is in prestigious company after he joined a princess and environmental broadcaster David Bellamy in supporting the world’s longest-established international conservation body.
Professor Brendan Godley, of the University of Exeter’s Centre for Ecology and Conservation, at the Cornwall Campus, was elected to the council of Fauna & Flora International.
The organisaton counts Professor Bellamy, Dr Lee Durrell and Lord John de Ramsay amongst its honorary Vice-presidents, and HRH Princess Laurentien as its newly appointed President.
Professor Godley, whose work includes the ecology of marine turtles, said: “I am particularly proud of this appointment as FFI is an organisation that I have followed since I became a member 20 years ago as a student. Like our university, it has continued to grow over the last few years despite the recession, highlighting its quality and increasing impact.”
