Applying for a permit
For an application form for a staff car parking permit by salary exchange or for a free Staff Authority to Park Badge please visit our application page to apply.
Payment through salary exchange is not applicable if:
- you earn less than £6,500 per annum or
- you do not pay National Insurance Contributions or
- you are a member of the NHS or FSSU pension schemes
You should therefore complete an application form to pay for a staff car parking permit by monthly payroll deductions. Please visit our application page to apply for a staff car parking permit/authority to park badge.
If you are still not sure of which form to use, please download the Flowchart showing changes as from 2008/9.
Parking permits/`Authority to Park’ badges will be sent via the internal mail system or issued to you in person at Streatham Farm. Please allow seven working days for us to process the application. If you are not paying for your permit/badge through salary exchange or deductions, please note that we do not accept cash.
If you are unable to supply your payroll number, we will not be able to issue a permit until it can be verified. This procedure enables us to identify staff members who do not qualify for inclusion in the salary exchange/deduction from salary.

These notes relate to 2008-2010 applications. See the Director of Personnel and Staff Development's letter of September 2008 for full details of the arrangements for 2008/9 to 2010/11.
From 2008/9, staff car park permits have only been available through salary exchange (unless you meet one of the exemptions below).
Applying for a car share permit
As part of the suite of car sharing permits staff can now apply for a car share permit which will cost £55 (payable by cheque or cash). All staff and students as well as other users currently entitled to a Standard Parking Permit, who are registered users of the University private car sharing group (through carsharedevon.com with a confirmed car share team match), may apply for this permit. Permits will be available for issue from 1 November 2012, please complete the Car Sharing Permit Application Form and return to Streatham Farm.
