Green travel
It is well established that regular exercise is a key factor in maintaining a good standard of health and fitness. Walking or cycling to work even for part of your journey involve valuable opportunities for personal physical exercise. Both are completely carbon neutral.

Sustainable transport and the University’s travel plan
The University’s transport benefits which includes information on the University’s cyclescheme. The cyclescheme encourages you to participate in a ‘salary sacrifice’ arrangement that enables you to purchase bikes and safety equipment and to use cycling as means of sustainable travel. This is also backed up by free cycle training to ensure you to feel safe and secure while using your bike.
Sports and Recreation
In recent years the University has invested in and developed first class sport, health and fitness facilities on its Exeter and Cornwall campuses, now regarded as some of the best facilities in the South West of England.
These are fully available and accessible to all staff. The Sports Office takes a holistic approach to staff health and wellness and provides a wide range of activities that suit everyone’s needs.
On the Streatham campus, you have access to numerous activities

On the St Luke’s campus you have access to two indoor sport halls, a gym and a swimming pool. On the Cornwall campus you have access to a sports centre with gymnasium, exercise studio, changing rooms, showers and a physiotherapy room. There is also a multi-use games area outside.
Health and wellness activities (Streatham campus)
The University provides a range of health and wellness activities throughout the year. Some of these include wellbeing weeks, free health testing, exercise referral schemes, campus health walks, weekly running groups, health information presentations, healthy eating workshops, complementary health treatments, smoking cessation workshops, meditation sessions and many more.
Campus walks
There are organised health walks that take place. These are designed to get you away from your workplace and to take in fresh air. They are very informal and not overly strenuous.
Sculpture Walk
The Sculpture Walk is a trail that all staff can access and which guides participants around campus taking in the various art works on display.
University smoking policy
The University wishes to provide a safe, clean, comfortable and healthy environment for all of its staff, students and visitors.
The University provides free support to staff and students who wish to stop smoking.
