The relationships you have with those around you at work can be important to your wellbeing.
Relationships
Relationships involve:
- promoting positive teamworking to avoid conflict, and
- dealing with unacceptable behaviour
Situation that may lead to stress
You may become stressed if you feel that you are being bullied, harassed or disciplined as a result of poor working relationships. Also if you feel that there is a lack of recognition or reward for the work that you do.
What can be done to reduce stress
The University’s policies and procedures are in place to handle:
- grievances
- absence
- misconduct
- bullying and harassment and
- equality and diversity
- rewarding performance
in a fair and equitable manner and should be fully utilised as soon as you become aware of any issues.
The ideal situation
You are not subjected to unacceptable behaviours, eg bullying and harassment at work; but, if you feel you are, then systems are in place to respond to any individual concerns.
