1)  Who is eligible to join the Staff Association?

All University staff who are paid on the main payroll are eligible to join the Staff Association.  After the Association has been running for a year, we may consider creating Associate Membership for other categories such as casual workers.

2)  How much does it cost to join the Staff Association?

Membership to the Staff Association costs £1 per week which is deducted from your salary on a monthly basis.

3)  If I decide it is not for me, can I cancel my membership?

When you complete your application form you are committing to a membership of a minimum of 26 weeks.  After this period you may cancel your membership by giving a month's notice.

4)  What do I get for my £1 a week?

  • Subsidised ticket prices on social events organised by the Committee
  • Subsidised or free entry to events (social and wellbeing focused) through out the year
  • Access to a range of shopping discounts

5)  What is my membership fee spent on?

Membership fees are used for subsiding events, supporting special interest groups financially with things such as transport to events etc as well as covering the costs of the discounts package and administration of the Association.

6)  Do I get a membership card as proof of my membership?

Yes, you should receive your membership card within one month of joining.

7)  What if I am an employee based at the Cornwall campus?

Members of staff in Cornwall are eligible to join the Staff Association and will be able to access the same shopping discounts.  We are looking for volunteers from Tremough campus to join the Committee, set up special interest groups and arrange events.  The Social Committee would be really pleased to hear from anyone who might be interested in playing just a small part in assisting with the growth of the Staff Association in Cornwall.

  • Join the Social Committee - we particularly welcome staff based at campuses other than Streatham
  • Set up a Special Interest Group
  • Join a Special Interest Group
