As part of a healthy lifestyle it is important to monitor your body, and so to help you maintain and monitor your health the Sport Park offer the following health checks free of charge: Body Fat, Blood Pressure, BMI. The tests take no longer than 5 minutes. You can register to have a health check at the festival.

As part of this year’s Staff festival the Grounds team will be offering an 'insiders tour' of the Streatham Grounds.

This is the chance to enjoy and interpret our wonderful grounds using the self- guided tours of Streatham and St Lukes campuses which can be downloaded here, covering Horticulture, Biodiversity, Trees and Artworks.

REGISTER FOR ST. LUKE’S

St. Luke's: 1200-1300, 1300-1400

Find out what secret wildlife we have on campus. Join Dr Clive Betts for an informative and activity filled session pond dipping at Reed Hall. You will need to bring wellies (suitable footwear) and prepare to get a bit muddy!

NB: No packed lunches as attendees mustn't have contact with the pond water and then eat food without a good hand wash.

Streatham: 1330-1430

There is the opportunity to sign up for 1 30 minute session at 1400.

The FloatFit® class is a 30 minute HIIT workout including burpees, lunges, squats, aquaclimbers, v-sits…. all on water! This low impact, cross training class gives you a fun full body workout.

The class will help to strengthen your aerobic stamina, tone and condition your whole body and improve muscular endurance.

Please note: You must have a basic level of swimming in order to take part in this class.

DJWWThere will be a tour of the Jubilee Water Walks at Streatham campus! The Diamond Waterways project is an exciting element of the University of Exeter's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. 

The project focuses on the water bodies and water features on the Streatham Campus and aims to enhance biodiversity and provide a mechanism for people to connect with nature and our natural environment, thus enhancing personal wellbeing. There is particular emphasis on the Higher Hoopern Valley Waterway, which will be renamed "The Diamond Waterway" as part of the project.

It is a collaborative initiative bringing to together academics, Arts and CultureGrounds and GardensWellbeingSustainabilityStudents’ Guild, staff and students. The project is financially supported by the Diamond Jubilee fund.

Streatham: 1430 - 1530

search and rescueLooking for a challenge? Interested in a team-derived thrill? Act as a real firefighter in a team in this Search and Rescue Team challenge!

You will work under the supervision of experts in the field of firefighting search and rescue.

In teams of 4, you will be issued the necessary search equipment. You will have no visibility. You will rely on your senses to feel your way around the room to search for a casualty and will have to remember your route to withdraw safely.

We advise that you do not take part if you suffer from:

  • Claustrophobia
  • Anxiety induced stress
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Heart conditions
  • Balance disorders
  • Restricted Hearing

gas rigA FIRE BLANKET IN AN EMERGENCY - HOW TO EXTINGUISH A FIRE
This exercise is part of Fire Marshal training where you can grab some experience in extinguishing a controlled fire from experts at the University.

 

John Howkins, Fire Safety Manager, will be at St. Luke's with the Gas Rig from 1100 - 1500 to demonstrate and manage this event.

No booking is required.
