Fully funded PhD studentships are available now
Join an inspiring research community - University of Exeter PhD studentships
Research is at the heart of the University of Exeter, and in order to develop the next generation of researchers more than 60 fully funded PhD studentships are now available across the arts and humanities, social sciences, business, and sciences.
These cover all fees and a maintenance grant for three years.
The University has a strong reputation, currently ranked 10th in the Times Good University Guide 2012. In the last Research Assessment Exercise, all 31 subjects offered included world-leading (4*) research and nearly 90 per cent of Exeter’s research was rated as internationally recognised. 2010/11 saw nearly £55 million in research grants and contracts secured and its research income grew by an impressive 23 per cent.
PhD students at Exeter have the opportunity to research in an interdisciplinary environment with leading experts whose research impacts on the wider world. PhD support is provided through the Researcher Development Programme and Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Programme.
Professor Stephen Rippon, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Research at the University of Exeter, said: “We undertake leading research and take pride in providing an exceptional experience for our PhD researchers. This in turn is reflected back through the commitment, enthusiasm and integrity of our students.
“During the last Research Assessment Exercise, we rose up the rankings more than any other university and, against the current economic tide, our research income and reputation continues to grow. Last year we won the largest number of research grants from the AHRC nationally, and our new partnership with the Universities of Bristol and Bath to form the ESRC-funded South West Doctoral Training Centre places us at the forefront of world class research in the social sciences. Our increasing strength in science and technology is reflected by the doubling of awards granted from the BBSRC in the last year.
“All this means that we can offer talented PhD researchers funding for their studies in conjunction with a dynamic and exciting research environment, where research students make a real impact in extending our knowledge and developing new ideas.”
