About the award

The University of Exeter is offering up to three fully funded Postgraduate Research Global Excellence Studentships, along with a number of Fee Scholarships.  The awards will be allocated one per College, for applications to Humanities, Arts and Social Science subjects, please see details below for further information. 

Fully Funded Studentships Information
Successful applicants will have their tuition paid by the University for up to 3 years (36 months), and a stipend to support living costs will be paid at current UK research council levels, currently £14,553 per year for up to 3 years (36 months).

Fee Scholarship Information
A number of scholarships of up to £5,000, payable as a reduction of the international tuition fee for the first year of study. The award values and number of awards vary on a subject-by-subject basis.

Awards will be granted to the strongest applicants based on an assessment of the applicant’s:

  •     academic excellence
  •     research potential
  •     research proposal

Applicants will need a good first degree (i.e. at least the equivalent of an Upper Second Class Honours Degree from a UK university) in the relevant subject and a taught Masters degree (Merit or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

  • Applicants would be expected to start their studies in September 2018 with some flexibility possible dependent on the project.
  • Recipients are expected to commit to engagement beyond their doctoral studies through contributting to the research environment of their discipline and college by participlating in research activites,accessing skills development training and opportunities and career development etc. Continued funding would be dependent on satisfactory evidence of this engagement having taken place.

This award is only open to applicants whose fee status is classed as International. Therefore this award is not open to Home or EU students.
