Student societies
There a number of student societies which offer practical opportunities to get involved in different areas of sustainability. These include:
Be The Change - the society encourages students to make a difference both locally and globally through a variety of projects and events.
BioSoc – the society for Biology and Life sciences students and anyone interested, BioSoc runs a variety of events often with green themes and environmental links.
Climate Change and Sustainable Futures Research – the page detailing results of the University’s research groups working in this field. This is one of the University’s five key research themes
Community Action - the Guild's volunteering organisation offers practical environmental volunteering projects every fortnight. Recent projects have included beach cleans, butterfly conservation, woodland management and wildflower planting.
Countryside Society - this society has been set-up to get keen supporters into the countryside doing what they love and to provide new opportunities to anyone who is interested.
Engineers Without Borders Exeter – the Exeter branch of an international development organisation that removes barriers to development through engineering. Its programmes provide opportunities for young people to learn about technology's role in tackling poverty.
Exeter University Bike Club - a student run club with a comprehensive range of Road and Off-Road rides. We have about 70 members and compete in local races and BUCS competitions.
Expedition Society - anyone who has a sense of adventure, a love of the outdoors, or just a fondness for a sociable pint will find themselves more than at home in the Expedition Society.
Out-of-Doors - a society for those interested in exploring the countryside of the South West.
Oxfam Society - Passionate about global issues? Exeter University Oxfam Society is looking for campaigners who want to join Oxfam’s global movement of volunteers.
People and Planet - UK student action on world poverty, human rights and the environment.
Tremough Allotment Society – the fxu Society for all your vegetable growing needs; they supply the mud and tools and you supply the seeds.
Slow Food on Campus - a society for those interested in food! The society aims to change food and farming through shared inspiration, food education and collective action.
Wild Society - If you’re studying Animal Behaviour, interested in conservation and working with animals or just love to dress up as an animal, you’ll find a place in Wild Soc.
