Field trips

No Archaeology degree is complete without a field trip. Field trips are made to local museums, archives and archaeological sites. You will also undertake at least four weeks of excavation, field work or related practical work usually during your first summer vacation. An exciting new initiative is the Exeter Exploration Fund, which provides opportunities for you to experience the excitement of ground-breaking international archaeological research, and increase your employability by testing your leadership, teamwork and organisational skills. Current projects are seeing Exeter students engaged in archaeological field work in Sri Lanka, South Dakota, Argentina, Kazakhstan, Texas and Devon. Places will be available on these and other Departmental projects, though you may wish to go on an approved project elsewhere. There is also the possibility for students to spend half a year at a university in America. For further details, please see the Archaeology website.
