Lebanon
At the University of Exeter, we host around 22,000 full time students, around a quarter of whom are international. Our thriving international community of staff and students means you will receive a warm welcome wherever you come from, and whatever your chosen programme of study.
The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies
The University has a particularly good reputation in the field of Islamic Studies. We have been teaching Arabic since 1971, and have also introduced programmes studying Farsi and Kurdish.
Our world-famous institute offers degrees in Islamic Studies, Middle East Studies and in Arabic language and culture. The institute also houses the Gulf Documentation Centre, while the University library holds around 30,000 specialist volumes on the Middle East.

Country specific information
Find out information specific to your country below;
See your course details for specific entry requirements:
- Undergraduate courses
- Postgraduate courses
Fee status
Your fee status will depend on where you are from. When students apply, they are classified as "Home/EU" if they are from the UK or from the European Union, and "International" if they are from elsewhere. If you are not sure whether your fee status is "Home/EU" or "International", read this advice from The Complete University Guide.
Tuition fees
Fees vary by programme and will be detailed in the offer letter you will receive after you have applied. Fees are not fixed at the point of entry for all years of study: there may be a small increase year-on-year for courses which are over one year in duration. For more information, please see our student finance webpage.
Living costs
The University recommends that single students allow at least £1,015 per month for living costs, which includes accommodation, food and books, but not travel to/from the UK. Students with families (a spouse and children) should allow additional resources for each dependant. You can find more details about living costs on our International Student Support pages. If you need a visa to study in the UK, for yourself and/or your dependants, you should familiarise yourself with UK Visas and Immigration's (UKVI's) financial requirements. Details are on our immigration advice webpage.
Scholarships
International students can apply for several of the University of Exeter's scholarships and bursaries. For further information please visit our scholarship search engine. The British Council can also provide more information about funding schemes.
The University of Exeter is approved by the Kazakhstan Ministry of Education’s Center for International Programs to host Bolashak Scholarship holders. For more information visit the Bolashak Scholarship page.
The International Student Support Office is here to help you with your immigration enquiries for the UK - from your initial application for a Tier 4 (General) Student visa to study your first course at Exeter, to visas for working after your studies.
Immigration is changing all the time, it is therefore extremely important that students keep up-to-date with the newest regulations when applying for their visas and access the free specialist immigration advice that we offer.
The University of Exeter offers a wide selection of university accommodation, on and off campus, to suit all tastes and budgets.
Accommodation is guaranteed for:
- new, unaccompanied first year undergraduates
- international fee-paying unaccompanied first year postgraduates
- full year Erasmus/Study Abroad students
as long as applications are received by the deadline of 31st July.
When you apply for accommodation, please note, you do NOT have to hold an Unconditional offer to submit your application: as long as your response is Firm, you will still be able to apply, even if your offer from the University of Exeter is Conditional. However, a room will not be allocated to you until all the conditions of your offer have been met.
Undergraduate students have a choice of catered or self-catered accommodation. There is a broad range of options: twin rooms, single studio bedrooms with bathroom and kitchen attached, and more. Postgraduate, Study Abroad and Erasmus students can only apply for self-catered accommodation.
For full details of the options available, as well as prices, facilities and 360-degree virtual tours of some of the rooms, visit our accommodation pages.
Students who would like to rent private, rather than University-run, accommodation can use the Accommodation Office's online database of privately rented accommodation. Visit the "Private Housing" section of the accommodation pages for details.
