Country specific information
Find out information specific to your country below;
If you have already completed your A levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma, you will be eligible for direct entry if you meet your chosen programme’s entry requirements. These are shown on the course pages of the University’s website and in the undergraduate prospectus. You can apply through UCAS.
Foundation Year entry
If you hold the WAEC WASSC or other senior school certificate, you will need to take a Foundation Year programme to be eligible for entry on an undergraduate programme, such as INTO’s International Foundation Year, available on the Exeter campus.
For entry onto a Masters programme, you will need to have completed a four-year Bachelors degree from a recognised Nigerian university, with a minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 5, or 60%.
If you are interested in our Finance or Management Masters programmes but do not quite meet our entry requirements, you may be able to gain entry by first attaining a Graduate Diploma through INTO, which you can read more about here.
For entry onto postgraduate research programmes, you will need to hold a relevant Masters degree, supported by a strong research proposal.
For more information, please visit our postgraduate applications page.
Your fee status will depend on where you are from. When students apply, they are classified as "Home/EU" if they are from the UK or from the European Union, and "International" if they are from elsewhere. If you are not sure whether your fee status is "Home/EU" or "International", read this advice from The Complete University Guide.
Fees vary by programme and will be detailed in the offer letter you will receive after you have applied. Fees are not fixed at the point of entry for all years of study: there may be a small increase year-on-year for courses which are over one year in duration. For more information, please see our student finance webpage.
The University recommends that single students allow at least £1,015 per month for living costs, which includes accommodation, food and books, but not travel to/from the UK. Students with families (a spouse and children) should allow additional resources for each dependant. You can find more details about living costs on our International Student Support pages. If you need a visa to study in the UK, for yourself and/or your dependants, you should familiarise yourself with UK Visas and Immigration's (UKVI's) financial requirements. Details are on our immigration advice webpage.
International students can apply for several of the University of Exeter's scholarships and bursaries. For further information please visit our scholarship search engine. The British Council can also provide more information about funding schemes.
The International Student Support Office is here to help you with your immigration enquiries for the UK - from your initial application for a Tier 4 (General) Student visa to study your first course at Exeter, to visas for working after your studies.
Immigration is changing all the time, it is therefore extremely important that students keep up-to-date with the newest regulations when applying for their visas and access the free specialist immigration advice that we offer.
The University of Exeter offers a wide selection of university accommodation, on and off campus, to suit all tastes and budgets.
Accommodation is guaranteed for:
- new, unaccompanied first year undergraduates
- international fee-paying unaccompanied first year postgraduates
- full year Erasmus/Study Abroad students
as long as applications are received by the deadline of 31st July.
When you apply for accommodation, please note, you do NOT have to hold an Unconditional offer to submit your application: as long as your response is Firm, you will still be able to apply, even if your offer from the University of Exeter is Conditional. However, a room will not be allocated to you until all the conditions of your offer have been met.
Undergraduate students have a choice of catered or self-catered accommodation. There is a broad range of options: twin rooms, single studio bedrooms with bathroom and kitchen attached, and more. Postgraduate, Study Abroad and Erasmus students can only apply for self-catered accommodation.
For full details of the options available, as well as prices, facilities and 360-degree virtual tours of some of the rooms, visit our accommodation pages.
Students who would like to rent private, rather than University-run, accommodation can use the Accommodation Office's online database of privately rented accommodation. Visit the "Private Housing" section of the accommodation pages for details.
The University of Exeter has agreements with the following independent representatives in your country, who would be pleased to tell you more about the University's facilities and programmes.

They can also assist you in making an application. Most of our representatives offer their services to applicants for free. Those that do charge a fee must make this clear from the outset of their consultation with students and issue appropriate receipts.
If you have any concerns about whether an agent is an authorised representative of the University of Exeter, please contact us. We also welcome feedback on the services offered by our local representatives.
If you have any other questions, we’d love to hear from you. The international officer for this region is Michael Naylor (Assistant Director, Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia).
