Living in Cornwall

Transport

Travelling between Falmouth, Penryn and the Campus is easy, with regular bus services connecting all three, and train stations in Falmouth and Penryn.

Buses

In Falmouth the most useful bus for students is the 41, which goes from Falmouth Moor to the University campus stopping near LIDL, and also to the centre of Penryn. The 88 runs from Falmouth to the Campus and then continues on to Truro (although it's quicker to get to Truro on the train). The 68, 68A and 68B all go to the campus, then around Penryn, but most importantly they include ASDA in their routes. Some people walk from campus to ASDA (it’s only 15 mins) then shop till they drop and jump on one of these buses back to Falmouth/Penryn.

There are some great student discounts on local buses; just show the driver your student card.

Trains

Falmouth has three railway stations: Falmouth Docks, Falmouth Town (located near Gilly Beach) and Penmere. There’s also a train station in Penryn which is walking distance from the Campus. Simply get on the train in Falmouth or Penryn and change at Truro to get to St Austell (for the Eden Project), St Ives, Par (for Newquay) and other places around Cornwall. From Truro you can also go directly to London Paddington, Reading and Plymouth. With a change of train you can get to Southampton, Bristol, Birmingham and beyond.

There’s never any isolation in Falmouth and Penryn because we’re well connected by rail. The train ride into and out of Cornwall is layered with captivating scenery. It’s the perfect time to relax and just admire the beauty of the place. Plan your train journey.
