Choosing your university
Your decision about where to apply may be restricted due to family or other commitments, but it is important to also take other factors into account such as:
- Course content – the same subject can vary immensely at different institutions. Check prospectuses for information about what’s included in each module. You can visit our subject area pages for further information about the courses at Exeter.
- Teaching and assessment – if exams are not one of your strengths you may prefer to apply for a course where there is a higher proportion of course assessment.
- Academic and welfare support – find out whether help is easily accessible. At Exeter our Student Skills Service runs Mature Students’ Days twice a year. These events offer a good opportunity to form support networks early in the academic year.
- We encourage all students with dyslexia, a physical disability, long term medical condition or mental health issues to declare their needs on their application form. This will not affect your application and will only enable us to plan and prepare for your arrival and support. Our Disability Resource Centre (DRC) is staffed by qualified professionals who can offer a range of experience and expertise. All enquiries will be dealt with confidentially and promptly enabling Exeter students and staff to benefit from the support we offer. For further information visit our Student Support page.
- Look at league tables such as The Times university league tables and the National Student Survey.
