Complementary Therapies
Reed Mews Wellbeing Centre has recently teamed up with local complementary practitioners to provide low-cost therapies for students and staff. This is an exciting development for the Centre and the first time that a wide variety of therapies have been made available to the whole university community - all under one roof.
Complementary therapies work well alongside and in support of conventional medicine. They are widely accessed for ‘stress busting,’ but can also contribute to the management of a wide range of health conditions. Emphasising a holistic approach to wellbeing, practitioners focus on prevention of illness as well as treatment.
We hope that the offer of therapies to nourish ‘body, mind and spirit’ in a relaxing and private environment will give everyone the opportunity to restore and re-vitalise themselves.
This is all part of a developing range of services available at the newly opened Reed Mews Wellbeing Centre. Whilst our primary focus is the provision of mental health and psychological therapy services for students, we recognise the importance of offering everyone here opportunities to explore a range of accessible self-care treatments which promote a more balanced approach to daily living.
Availability and charges
Complementary therapies will be available at the Reed Mews Wellbeing Centre on Tuesday evenings for staff, and Thursday evenings for students.
Charges are as follows:
- Students – maximum charge of £20 per 50 minute session
- Staff – maximum charge of £20 per 50 minute session for Staff Association members; £25 per session for non-members
- Any sessions that are less than 50 minutes will be charged on a pro-rata basis.
We will be monitoring the popularity of these services and reviewing the availability of provision over the coming year.
