Sanchi Howe

Holistic massage and Aromatherapist

I am fully insured and a member of the Federation of Holistic therapists. I joined the Crediton Wellbeing Centre team shortly after qualifying and have a wealth of practical experience. This has allowed me to develop my own unique style of practice (caring and gentle but effective).

After studying aromatherapy I became very interested in essential oils and their properties and have also undertaken the ITEC course at the School of Complementary Health in Exeter. I gained my Diploma in Aromatherapy in June 2012.

I am currently studying Bach Flower Remedies with particular reference to the treatment of depression, obesity and self-esteem.

Swedish Massage

I studied Swedish Massage at Exeter College and gained my VCTC Pass Certificate in July 2009.

Masah, meaning in Arabic 'to stroke with the hand', is the oldest known method of medical treatment. The healing quality of touch was developed into a gentle systematic massage by the Swede, Per Henrik Ling. He based his treatment on 5 basic strokes, and was one of the first practitioners to study the relationship between type of stroke and direct physical benefit.

The psychological effects of massage are also well recognised and appreciated. Swedish Massage was given to 'shell shocked' men traumatised by the 1st World War. Nervous exhaustion, very common in today’s hectic world, can be greatly relieved by massage.

The physical benefits of massage include:

  • Increased the blood circulation.
  • Hastened removal of waste and de-toxifies the muscles.
  • Increased metabolic rate.
  • Increased lymph flow and drainage.
  • Faster production of new cells and improved skin condition
  • Relieved stiffness and muscle pain.
  • Soothes frayed nerves and thoroughly invigorates you.
  • Massage gives your mind time to unwind while you enjoy wonderful relaxation, helping to bring peace and harmony into your life.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a truly holistic therapy, combining the soothing touch of massage with the healing properties of pure essential oils. These timeless, evocative oils have their roots firmly bedded in ancient history where they were highly prized by the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans and always highly prized. Their healing properties have been known and valued and passed down through the centuries.

Awaken your senses to the wonderful 'garden' of aromas
Relax into a soothing massage, knowing you are:
Nourishing and re-vitalising your skin
Balancing your emotions, calming mood swings and mental stress
Easing physical aches, pains, tensions and many other complaints

Aromatherapy is often used alongside conventional treatment care in hospices and hospitals. There have been many studies which have supported the positive role played by aromatherapy in daily life.
