Sonia Rashid

Sonia is a fully qualified yoga teacher, trained by the Devon school of Yoga. She has also completed a one year post graduate teacher training and yoga therapy course and is insured with the Independent Yoga Network (IYN).

Yoga means ‘union’ of right and left side of body, of mind and soul.  Yoga offers a series of practices that allow you to steadily gain discipline, strength and self-control while cultivating relaxation, awareness and equanimity.

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga therapy is the personalised application of yoga techniques to fit the individual’s well-being needs and circumstances. It is an all-inclusive therapy -  which focuses on restoring 'balance' and functioning of the physical (musculoskeletal), physiological (digestion, respiration, cardiovascular, endocrine, and immune), and mental/emotional systems.

How can Yoga Therapy help?

Yoga Therapy may be used to:

  • Achieve a feeling of  balanced, sustained energy flow throughout the body
  • Reduce symptoms of illness or injury
  • Give hands-on assistance with relaxation and meditation
  • Establish more functional breath and mobility
  • Increase flexibility, strength and sense of wellbeing

What to expect from a session:

Individuals are asked to fill in a health questionnaire to help tailor the yoga therapy to suit their health and wellbeing needs. Hand-outs will be provided to support the individual’s practice together with guidance on using simple methods at home or work. There will be the opportunity to contact the therapist after the consultation if any queries / concerns arise.
