Induction

The induction process has benefits to both workers and the University.  It gives a clearer idea of what is expected of workers whilst on assignment and encompasses on the job training which shows casual workers how to do the job.  You should  receive a Workplace induction to your working environment.  This should include a tour of the workplace (inc. fire exits), introduction to others working in your area and on the job training.

Your Manager/Supervisor may give you hard copies of these documents or they may have referred you to this webpage to download them yourself.  Either way it is important that you read and understand the following:

Induction Workbooks

The induction workbook makes up part of the induction process for casual workers within Campus Services.  The workbook contains information to help casual workers settle in to their assignment (e.g. info on signing up for shifts, payment, uniform etc.) as well as information that the University are legally obliged to give (e.g. Health & Safety, fire evacuation procedures etc.)  If you move areas then you may receive a new workbook.

To be read by ALL casual workers:

Please download the relevant workbook.  Some of our key information sheets are also available in Polish.  If you would like a copy of these then please contact your Manager/Supervisor.

Recruitment and induction quizzes

Your Manager/Supervisor will issue you with a quiz sheet that you should complete by the end of your first week of assignment (if it is longer than a week).T  he purpose of the quizzes is to check casual workers understanding of the information given to them during casual induction.
