Financial benefits
Salary
We have developed a modern and progressive pay structure that rewards our staff with highly competitive salaries. Common salary principles across the University include:
- Transparency and fairness
- Equal pay for equal value
- Opportunities for career progression
- The potential for employees to earn more for exceptional performance.
Pension scheme
The University offers pensions schemes linked to salary to all new staff. The Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) and the Exeter Retirement Benefits Scheme (ERBS) provide excellent comparable benefits on retirement or leaving. The employee and the University make percentage contributions to the schemes and rates may vary from time to time. The employee contribution rates are currently 6.35% and 6.0% respectively.
Childcare vouchers
As part of its range of family friendly initiatives, the University has made arrangements to participate in a scheme which enables employees to purchase, via a salary sacrifice arrangement approved by HM Revenue & Customs, childcare vouchers without paying income tax or national insurance contributions on this sum.
Free eye tests
All staff who use display screen equipment are entitled to eye tests paid for by the University provided they apply under the University scheme before booking an appointment.
Annual bus travel passes
As part of its Sustainable Travel Plan, to encourage alternatives to travelling to work by car, the University has partnered with Stagecoach to offer staff working at the Streatham and St Luke's Campuses discounted annual travel passes. For an application form and further information, go to the webpage on Stagecoach Bus Passes.
