Steve is a graduate civil engineer and a Fellow of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institute of Building, with many years experience in the construction industry. Following ten years as MD of a subsidiary to a large construction group, Steve led a management buy-in at Midas Group. As Chief Executive and now Chairman, Steve has transformed Midas from a small, regionally based contractor to a £200 million property services group. Steve has recently completed two years as Chairman of the CBI in the South West.

He serves on the boards of Camborne, Pool, Redruth Regeneration Company, Devon & Cornwall Electrical Training Limited and the Construction Industry Research and Innovation Strategy Panel. He is a Trustee of the Devon Community Foundation and involved with several other charities. He ran the London Marathon in 2005 for Cancer Research UK Limited and trekked to Machu Picchu for the Children’s Hospice South West. Having spent over 30 years in the construction industry, Steve is dedicated to the changes initiated by Rethinking Construction and Accelerating Change. Indeed, the adoption of these principles in his own company has been a significant factor in its success.

Steve was awarded the CBE in the 2006 New Years Honours List for services to the Construction Industry and appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Devon in 2009.
