Report an incident

I want to tell the University about an incident of sexual misconduct.

The Accused is a student of the University

Who can I talk to?

Talk to a member of staff or the Students' Guild (Exeter) or the Falmouth and Exeter Students' Union (Penryn) or use the Exeter Speaks Out anonymous reporting tool.

Follow the step by step instructions below:

Disclose:

You want to tell the University what has happened but do you don’t want formal action taken.

NOTE: this can remain anonymous however this could limit the help we can offer you.

Report: 

You want to tell the University what has happened and you want formal action to be taken.

NOTE: This cannot be anonymous. Action can only be taken against named registered students.

The Lead for Sexual Misconduct is informed:

If you choose to waive your anonymity:

The Lead for Sexual Misconduct will meet with you to discuss how we can support you:

  • We can offer you wellbeing support
  • We can offer you support with your studies
  • We can offer you support with mitigation
  • We can offer you support with your accommodation, including a move if you are in University accommodation

If you want to take formal action:

You will meet with a trained Investigating Officer. You can have a supporter with you for this meeting.

The Investigating Officer will meet separately with the Accused Party to hear their explanation.

The Investigating Officer will notify you of the outcome of the investigation.

Outcome of investigation:

Either:

  • No action can be taken - case closed or

  • A minor disciplinary breach occurred - decision made and case closed or

  • A Major Disciplinary Board will hear the case: decision made and case closed.

Review:

If you are not happy with the outcome you can ask the University to review your case within 20 working days of receiving the outcome
