Universities that Count

The University has participated in the Universities that Count (ESR Index) for the past 3 years, where we have demonstrated significant improvements in environmental performance.  Within the Environmental Impact areas we have increased from 62% to 83.6%, consistently performing far better than the sector average.  We have been recognised as having outstanding achievement in the climate change impact area.  Significant performance improvement has also been demonstrated in Waste Reduction and Recycling (56% to 78%).  In 2008 and 2009 we submitted information regarding biodiversity and demonstrated a performance improvement from 47% to 78%.  In 2010 however we felt it appropriate to measure our Staff & Student Travel and scored 86%.
