Becoming an efficient problem solver

Developing skills as a problem solver

As the Subject Chair for Physics, Bethan works with the Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) to solve problems. As Bethan explains; "in Exeter… people are working together for the greater good of education. It’s not staff versus students, its staff and students as a whole, and I think that’s really important."

Effecting change

The SSLC is crucial in making positive change at The University, as "unless [students]... make the university aware of things that need changing, change might not happen." Through the SSLC, Bethan is able to lead and effect change within her department, the University and beyond.

"The University makes it quite clear that they are open to student ideas, and if students have things that they want to change the University is always willing... for example, you’ve got the Students as Change Agents project, and that’s definitely a way that the University is adapting to the needs of the students, listening to their concerns, and changing, because its our education."

Solving problems through the SSLC

"Being a Subject Chair definitely makes you a problem solver".
