Research Students

Looking for accommodation for the next academic year?

As a Research student you have a number of options when looking for accommodation and you will need to ensure that your housing matches your individual requirements but you may like to consider the following:

University accommodation in Exeter

If you are studying at one of the Exeter campuses at the University of Exeter for a full academic year starting from September, you may fall within our accommodation guarantee. We guarantee an offer of accommodation to all new unaccompanied postgraduates from outside the EU, and encourage you to apply for accommodation by 31 July in your year of entry. Applications open online from mid-April for September Entry.

Please see our postgraduate pages for further information about what accommodation is available to you.

Postgraduate research students who fall outside the guarantee can make an application for accommodation, but we may be unable to offer you accommodation due to pressure on bed spaces. If you submit an application, we will let you know if accommodation is available at that time.

Private housing in Exeter

If you do not fall under our accommodation guarantee or would prefer finding private accommodation in the city centre through a landlord or agent please visit our private accommodation pages to see what options are available.

Bringing your family to Exeter

If you are bringing your partner and/or children with you for a full academic year, please review our family page as you will need to find private accommodation in the city centre.

International students who plan to bring their families with them should refer to our International Student Support pages for more information.
