International Women's Day 2021
International Women's Day is a key campaign within the University's annual calendar of events. This year to celebrate International Women’s Day 2021 there are a series of online events taking place on Monday 8 March.
In advance of International Women's Day 2021 we have also spoken to a few alumnae about their experiences.
Alumna Emily Nicholls (MPHYS Physics, 2015) is Head of Solutions Consultancy UK at Vuealta and is also a STEM ambassador for STEMNET, encouraging young people to enjoy STEM subjects.
Alumna Kusum Lata Sawhney (MA/M.Phil English Literature, 1986) is a journalist, author and poet. Much of her writing focuses on women’s experiences, rights and dignity. Read more >
Alumna Laura Woodward-Drake (Film Studies, 2014) is Chief Operating Officer at Hello! Exmouth, and in 2020 she also founded her own business, Boost Business Assistance and took on the role of Chair of Exmouth Chamber of Commerce.
Alumna Naveen Fatima (MSc Human Resources Management and Services, 2018) studied as a mature student whilst at Exeter and is a qualified HR specialist who currently works as a Regional Human Resources Manager for Oxygen Distribution DMCC in Dubai.
Alumna Philippa Makepeace OBE (BA Political Science and Government, 2002 & MA Middle East Politics, 2003) is Director of Global Supply Chains in the Department for International Trade (DIT) and leads work to strengthen resilience in supply chains.
